Why do we need TSA customs locks?

Since the 9/11 terrorist attacks in 2001, the United States has greatly strengthened airport security checks. In addition to X-ray inspection of all boarding luggage, the US Transportation Safety Administration (TSA) currently conducts manual inspections on many suitcases, and locked suitcases will be forcibly opened. In order to avoid luggage damage from the beginning, the only choice for passengers is not to lock their checked in luggage or to temporarily ensure the safety of their luggage. This means that the contents inside the luggage are displayed defenseless in front of thieves, which is why TSA locks were born.

Simply put, TSA certified locks are a new product developed to maintain aviation safety and passenger luggage safety after the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Since January 2003, the TSA has mandated that all luggage entering US airports must be opened for inspection, and has issued a warning: unless a TSA certified lock is used, checked luggage must either not be locked or customs have the right to pry open and destroy the checked luggage lock.
